Hey, welcome!

I’m Abi, and I help people who feel unsure of where to start, get lasting results. Whether it's to lose weight, build muscle and strength, improve their relationship with food, or simply make fitness sustainable and enjoyable, I can help.

If you have felt like you’ve tried every diet and training program under the sun, or are confused with all the misinformation in the fitness industry, I’m here to show you that it doesn’t have to be like that.

For more than eight years, I‘ve been successfully helping people to develop new habits and achieve their goals in ways that are both joyful and sustainable. It doesn’t have to be torture and it doesn’t have to involve depravation.

I know how to help you overcome barriers, to get you results, and guide and support you through change.

My Story

I was brought up in a family of foodies, and my childhood and early teens were full of delicious tastes and smells, experimental cooking and trying new foods. But, at a young age, I developed some less than healthy habits, picking up my health and fitness education from the media which touted ideas like ‘carbs will make you fat’ and ‘lifting heavy weights makes women bulky’.

I started a low calorie diet, joined a gym and sought to ‘tone up’ by doing 30 minute stints on the treadmill, followed by a core routine of copious sit-ups and planks. At some stage, I realised I wasn’t getting anywhere and decided to get myself a personal trainer.

As I learnt more and more from my trainer about health, nutrition and mindset, my perspective shifted. I learnt to eat without guilt, to feel confident and strong training in the gym and manage negative behaviours around health and fitness. It was a steep learning curve, but I loved every minute.

I was then inspired to make the career change to become a coach myself. Developing self-efficacy, education and empathy were at the heart of my coach’s approach, and whilst that was over 10 years ago now, they’re things that I have taken forward in my work with my clients to this day.

I am now a Director at Stanza Fitness, an independent gym in Bath - and the personal trainer who helped me when I first got into training is my business partner. We started Stanza Fitness with a shared vision of offering a friendly, fun and inclusive gym to people of all levels of fitness, with professional, evidence-based coaching at its core.
